Google 3-Pack Statistics and Why It is Beneficial for Your Business:

  • The Google 3-Pack ranks in the #1 position in 93% of Google searches, according to a study by seoClarity

  • 68% of searchers prefer the local 3-Pack, 27% prefer the organic results below the 3-Pack, and only 10% trust paid search results.

  • 70% of mobile searchers click-to-call a business from Google results.

  • 76% of people who conduct a local search contact a business within 24 hours and 28% of those searches result in a purchase of a service.

Actionable Steps to Creating a Google My Business Listing to Rank in the Google 3-Pack:

  • Step 1: Create a Google My Business listing- search in Google for Google My Business and go through the easy, step by step process to claim your business and set up your account.

  • Step 2: Fill in your information as accurately as possible- location, hours, contact information, website, email address, links to social media profiles.

    • Update this information over time if anything changes.

    • Ensure your information is the same across your website and all social media platforms.

    • Your ideal client will not work hard to find the correct information if it isn’t accurate.

  • Step 3: Describing your business and services that you offer- do keyword research first to find out what your ideal client is typing into Google search. Then describe your business in a strategic way optimizing those keywords and phrases to add more value and leverage your business.

  • Step 4: Adding images and reviews to Google My Business listing- images may include your products, menu, your brick and mortar business location, client images, recent projects, etc. Images really give people an idea of the quality of your work, what it is that you do,   and are something that Google pays attention to.

  • Step 5: Updating Google My Business listing frequently- updating things like contact information, images, new information, company news, promos, special offers, etc. This shows up in the Google algorithms that you are an active and engaging business and helps you to rank higher in Google. It also shows potential clients that you are active as well.

Why Google Reviews are SO Important for Google My Business:

  • Google Reviews are the most valuable pieces of Google My Business- they play a big role in how much business you get from a Google My Business listing.

  • 82% of people read reviews and check ratings of business. Of those checking listings, 97% of people say that reviews and ratings play a big factor into their buying decisions

  • Harvard Business Review found that boosting your star rating by one star can boost your overall company revenue by 10%.

  • Having an overwhelming number of positive reviews are beneficial

    • Having more reviews tells potential clients that you are more experienced and can be trusted.

    • If you only have a few high star ratings, one single one star rating will negatively impact your overall star rating.

  • How do you get reviews? Ask for them! And make it easy for people to leave a review- include a link in a call to action in your email signature and social media platforms. Also explain to your audience why reviews are so critical and will impact your business. This will be more motivation for people to leave a positive review.

  • Make reviews part of your client journey- once you have finished a project for a customer, send an email thanking them for their business and asking them to write a review.

My Final Thoughts on the Benefits of Google My Business to Rank in Google Even Without a Website:

“If you already have a website, you should 100% be using Google my business too. The point I'm trying to make though, is that even if you don't have a website yet, you can start to create your online presence, start to get found in Google search by using a Google My Business listing. And it's so, so valuable.”
